Parents & Teachers

We get it. You don’t just want to READ the book. You want to help it come alive so that kids experience the book in real and meaningful ways. You’re our kind of people.

Here are some activities you can do around the book:

  1. Ask the child/children to recount a time where they tried to do something and it didn’t go as planned.

    • Ask them to recount what went wrong

    • Ask them to recount how they responded

    • If they responded in a way that didn’t help them move closer to their goal, ask them what they might have done differently.

  2. Have your child/children draw the planet that the friendly space aliens from the book live on

  3. Have your child/children make a birthday card for someone who means something to them whose birthday is coming up

  4. Ask your child/children to write a note to a friend telling them why they are such a special friend.

  5. Have your children work together to plan a birthday party. What do they need to do? And celebrate their results...with the party they have planned!

  6. Ask your child/children to help Duckie by making a list of great birthday presents for next year!
